Welcome to Southern Bohemian Mineralogy Club Site
     
  Southern Bohemian Mineralogy Club was founded in 2003 and is based in Ceske Budejovice, Czech Republic. It has 17 regular members, who are collecting minerals (some members longer than twenty years) or are only interested in rocks and minerals.

Although the primary region of interest is Southern Bohemia, many activities are also focused to whole Czech Republic or worldwide. The main activities are weekend collecting trips, monthly meetings, presentations and excursions.

  The Club’s database includes many localities from the Czech Republic and more than one hundred active localities of Southern Bohemia, which offer more than seventy different mineral species, including well-known tectites (moldavites).

Typical mineral specimens for Southern Bohemia are opal, rose-quartz, rutile, goethite, fluorapatite, wavellite, andalusite, sillimanite, kyanite, zircone, pyrope, elbaite, lepidolite, pyroxene, chrysotile, antigorite, vermiculite etc.
